Touch > Product, Add Barcode (#508) and Barcode Entry (#538) POS Keys.
Description
Used to add a Barcode, using the String Product/PLU or Add Barcode POS Key, or to enter/scan a Barcode to retrieve a Product at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
To Be Considered
- This feature does not work when:
- Products that do not exist in the SwiftPOS Back Office, ie. adding a Barcode to new Products.
- The Barcode scanned is already assigned to another Product.
- Given this feature can only be used during a sale at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, and if it is being used to only add Barcodes (and not to sell Products as well), then make sure all items are credited to reverse the sale of the Products for which the Barcodes were added. This will ensure SOH levels remain the same.
Pre-Requisites
- Create a Add Barcode POS Key. This can be done by ensuring a Product POS Key, linked to the System PLU 19994 @BARCODE is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer. Also ensure the String PLU setting is selected for this Barcode System PLU. This will enable the entering of a Barcode.
- Ensure the Add Barcode & Barcode Entry POS Keys are added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
Operation
- How to add a Barcode to a Product using the Add Barcode Product POS Key
When scanning a Product's Barcode at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, in order to sell the Product, a message may be displayed warning that the PLU/Barcode was not found. This means that the Barcode scanned is not recorded against an existing Product in the SwiftPOS Back Office. Using the Search button search for the Product scanned.
