Description

 

This menu item is used to schedule the playing of Advertising Video (MP4) files at the Customer Facing Display (CFD). Also, it provides the ability to create Video (MP4) files from a folder containing only images.

 

  1. The Advertising Scheduler features the following:
     
    1. Video Advertising can be configured:
       
      1. For any Location.
      2. For any Date range.
      3. For any Time of the day.
      4. For any Day in the week.
         
    2. Video Advertising can be easily scheduled by changing the order/priority.
    3. Content can be customised for individual or multiple CFDs, Menu Boards, Entry Kiosks, etc.
    4. Redundancy built in to keep playing existing content when the server is not available.
    5. Reduced network traffic when advertising content changes.
    6. Video Creator to transform Images into a Video slide show.

 


Pre-Requisites

 

  1. Ensure the Advertising Video (MP4) files have been created and are available for scheduling. If necessary, use the Video Creator to transform a collection of Images into a slide show.
  2. SwiftPOS Monitor will need to be configured to ensure the Enable Watching option is selected, and the Service Monitor service is running.
  3. An IIS Virtual Directory will need to be created. For example Advertising. For more information ... Ensure that the appropriate permissions are assigned to the folder selected as the IIS Virtual Directory.
  4. The CFD Peripheral will need to be configured. This can be done here. Also, ensure the following CFD settings will need to be configured:
     

 

  1. Enable Journal Display - Ensure this option is selected.
  2. Display - Ensure the correct Display is selected from the drop down list for the CFD.
  3. Journal Style - Ensure either Video or Video 2 Layout options are selected.
  4. Video File/URL - Ensure the settings is configured to the created IIS Virtual Directory. For example, http://localhost/Advertising/MainAdvertising1/1.mp4. Note : In this example, MainAdvertising1 is the folder specified in the Play From setting from which Video files are played. Also, the 1 in 1.MP4 relates the to SwiftPOS Touch terminal's Location #.

 


Setup

 

  1. Ensure the steps outlined in the Pre-Requisites above have been completed.
  2. Ensure the Advertising Folders have been set.
  3. Add all Advertising Video (MP4) files to the folder identified in the Retrieve From setting.
  4. Create a Schedule of Advertising using the Advertising Scheduler above.
  5. Send a Full Update to the SwiftPOS Touch Terminals.
  6. The CFD should now display advertising as per the Schedule.

Search Filters

 

  • The filters at the top of the screen can be used to limit the number of rows displayed in the grid. The filters include the following types:


 

Noteworthy

 

  • Type - Select from the drop down list one of the available types:
    • Self Service Start - Select to schedule the displaying of video file in Self Service. The video file can be configured HERE.

Grid

 

The grid displays the: Schedule, Play Video File, From/To Date, Starts At, Ends At and On Days. Note : To edit an entry in the grid, double click a row. Rows displayed in the grid can be sorted by toggle selecting the column headings.

 

Footer

 

  • Add - Select to open the Retrieve From folder in File Explorer to select the Video file to be played. Once a file is selected, the Advertising Schedule screen below is displayed.

 

 

  • Edit - Select to open the Advertising Schedule screen, to edit the selected schedule.
  • Delete - Select to delete the selected row.
  • Save - Select to save changes.
  • Undo - Select to undo changes made.
  • Move Top/Bottom/Up/Down - Select to move the selected row either Up/Down one row, or to the Top/Bottom of the grid.
  • Tools - Select from the drop down list one of the following:
     

 

 

 

  • Advertising - Select to open the Advertising screen to configure Advertising.
  • Close - Select to exit.

 


Advertising Scheduler

  • Name - Displays/Enter the name for the Schedule.
  • Source File - Select to open the Retrieve From folder in File Explorer to select the Video file to be played.
  • Locations - Select to open the Locations screen to select one/more or All Locations in which the Video file can be played.

 

Date and Time

 

Select to ensure the selected Video file is only played within the From/To date range and/or within the From/To time period. Note : if neither are selected, then the Video file will be played only on the Days selected below.
 

  • Start Date/To - Select to ensure the From/To dates are enabled and able to be set.
  • Start Time/To - Select to ensure the From/To Times are enabled and able to be set.

 

Days of Week

 

Select to ensure the selected Video file is only played on the selected Days. This can includes all Days, or selected Days of the week, or none. Note : If no Days are selected then Video file will be played only Date and Time period selected above.

 

File Information

 

  • File Size - Displays the size of the currently selected Video file.
  • Preview - Select to play the currently selected Video file.

 


Advertising Video Creator

  • Retrieve Images From - Select to open the Browse for Folder screen to select the folder that contains only those images that are going to be used to create the Video (MP4) file.
  • Save Video File As - Select to open the Save As screen in File Explorer to select/enter the file name to be given to the newly created Video (MP4) file.
  • With Resolution - Select from the drop down list one of the following screen resolutions.
     

 

Select the screen resolution on which Video files will be played.

 

 

  • Display Images Every X Seconds - Displays/Set the time in seconds that each image from the Retrieve Images From folder will be displayed.

 


Advertising Folders

  • Retrieve From - Displays/Enter the name given to the Advertising video (MP4) file. Enter a meaningful name without making it too long and avoid using spaces. Note : When naming video (MP4) files ensure the name entered does not exceed 24 characters in length.
  • Play From - Displays/Set the screen size depending on the Advertising to be displayed. Normally, this is set to 1024 x 768 for a SwiftPOS Touch terminal (Wide screen is 1366x768) or 1920 x 1080 for Menu Boards. Note : Do not use graphics that are larger then the size of the display because it will slow the operation of the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
