Touch > Clear Item (#2) POS Key

Description

Used to clear an item in the sale and if necessary enforce the entry of Reason Codes. The value of the cleared items will be recorded for SwiftPOS Back Office Audit Reporting.

This POS Key appends the text [Clear] to the description of the item and sets the selling price to zero.

This POS Key is primarily used to clear an item from a sale that has either been incorrectly added or the Custom/Member has changed there mind and does not want to proceed with the purchase of the item. In contrast. items are credited in order to correct a sale. For example, when a Customer/Member has already received an item and is not happy, then the item can be credited in order to appease the Customer/Member.

To Be Considered

1. The Clear Item POS Key will only clear a Media type item when it is a Media in the range of 1-29.
2. The Show Cleared Items setting must be selected in order for cleared items to be displayed in the sale.
3. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.
4. If required, enforcing Clerks/Staff at the SwiftPOS Touch terminals to provide reasons for the clearing of sales items can be achieved by ensuring that the Enforce Reason Code settings have been configured. These settings are accessed from here.

Pre-Requisites

1. Ensure the Function Clear Item POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.

Operation

1. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal make a sale.
2. Select an item in the sales grid.
3. Select the Clear Item POS Key.
   
   

4. If the Enforce Reason Code setting has been enabled, then a Enforced Reasons screen will be displayed enabling the entry/selection of a Reason. For more information ...
5. Clearing a main meal will also ensure the sides, sauces and cooking instructions will also be cleared. Otherwise, sides, sauces and cooking instructions can also be cleared separately by individually selecting them and clearing each as required.

Allows for a Clear Item POS Key to be configured to enforce the entry of Reason Codes, restrict the Clearing of sales Items to certain Categories and also restrict access to this POS Key to specific Clerk/Staff Groups.

• Enforce Reason Code - Select to enforce the Clerk/Staff Member to select/enter a Reason for clearing the selected sales item. For more information ...
• Category List - Select from the Category List the Categories for which this POS Key will be applied to. Use the Add All, Clear, < and > buttons to populate the Selected Categories list to the required Categories. Note : This feature can be used to restrict staff to only be able to clear food items and not drinks. To be able to clear a Payment / Top Up (#152), then ensure no Categories appear in the Selected Categories pane.
• Table Clerk Security - Select to open the Clerk Groups screen and select the Clerk/Staff Groups that will have access to this POS Key.
