Delayed Printing Operation

Touch > Delay Print (#21) POS Key

Description

Used to delay the Kitchen Print, Floor Print and KVS printing of Table items (assigned to a Print Group), for a specified time (in minutes).

To Be Considered

  1. If the Kitchen Print POS Key is used with the Print All Items setting selected then all items including those that are delayed will be immediately printed and the items will no longer be delayed.
  2. It is possible to change the delay time on items saved back to a Table by opening the Table and pressing the Delay Print POS Key. Only items that have not yet been printed will be used to populate the Groups screen. Entering a 0 for the delay time will cause the items to print immediately after saving the Table back to the Table tracking database.
  3. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.

Pre-Requisites

  1. Ensure the Function Delay Print POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
  2. Ensure the Delayed Printing setting is selected in Table Tracking - Main Settings Tab.

Operation

  1. To Delay Printing

  1. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, create a new Table or open an existing Table.
  2. Add items to the Table which are assigned to different Print Groups. For example, Entrees/Mains/Desserts/etc.
  3. Select the Delay Print POS Key to open the Print Groups screen.
  4. Select a Print Group to delay. The Enter Delay Time (mins) screen will be displayed.
  5. Enter the number of minutes to delay the printing and select Enter.

In the example above, Entrees will be set to print to the Kitchen printer after 19 mins 33 secs and Mains after 49 mins 44 secs. Drinks will be printed immediately.

  1. Save the Table.
  2. Items assigned to Print Groups that were not delayed will print immediately.
  3. Once the elapsed number of minutes has passed the delayed items will print.
  4. Note : Finalising the Table before the Delayed time has elapsed, will cause all unprinted Items to be printed, thus overriding the Delay settings.
