Drive-Thru Operation

 

 

Description

 

Orders are automatically sent to the KVS. Orders can be retrieved and paid for at the Cashier SwiftPOS Touch terminal.

When setting up a multiple KVS site, all SwiftPOS Touch terminals need to have the peripherals setup in the settings menu.

 


Here is an example on how to set up a typical drive thru situation with multiple KVS systems


 

 


Setup

 

How to set up for a Drive Thru Operation with multiple KVS

 

This example is going to set up three different KVS systems.

 

  1. KVS 1 - All Take Away and Eat In orders (Front service KVS)
  2. KVS 2 - All Take Away, Eat In and Drive Thru orders (Food Preparation station KVS)
  3. KVS 3 - All Drive Thru orders (Drive thru final counter service)

SwiftPOS Back Office

 

On the "Hold Sale" POS Key, you need to check the box to "Print held sales to Kitchen"

 

SwiftPOS Touch (FRONT SERVICE AREA)

 

  1. Terminal Settings > Peripherals List > add 2 KVS systems
    • KVS 1 & 2 - Take Away and Eat In ticked


  1. Select the following Categories:
    • 1 - All Food & Drinks (Front service KVS)
    • 2 - All Food (Food Preparation station KVS)


  1. Set these KVS to Standard Mode
  2. Add a third KVS peripheral to these terminals with the same settings as the Drive Thru KVS (see SwiftPOS drive thru)

 

SwiftPOS Touch (Drive Thru)

 

  1. Terminal Settings > Peripherals List > add 1 KVS system
    • Drive Thru ticked


  1. Select the following Categories:
    • All Food & Drinks (Drive Thru Service)


  1. Set KVS to Journal Mode

 

KVS

 

  1. Settings > Make all Kitchen Video Systems the correct number as to where they are placed in the restaurant. (Front Service 1, Food Prep 2, Drive Thru 3)
  2. Set systems 1 & 2 to ???Standard Mode???
  3. Ensure all Table Tracking Databases are correct (the same)
  4. Set KVS 3 to "Journal Mode"

 


Operation

 

  1. Drive Thru sales are taken at any of the SwiftPOS Touch terminals and the sale is put on hold.
  2. KVS 2 shows the order on screen and the meal preparation starts.
  3. The customer pulls up to the second window and the staff Member recalls the order (Also displayed on the 3rd KVS).
  4. Any additional items are added to the order and the customer pays and gets their order.
  5. There is no limit to the number of orders that can be held.
  6. Normal Sales are taken from the front counter service and are compiled by the 1st KVS screen.
  7. All orders taken are sent to the food preparation KVS 2.

 

Applying Auto Numbers to Drive Thru.

 

When drive thru orders are being re-opened and closed on a regular basis, it is recommended that you use Auto-Number for the orders.

This is set up under Touch Terminal Settings --> Terminal --> Device --> Enable Auto Number.
