Kitchen Printing Operation

 

Touch > Kitchen Print (#15) POS Key

 

Description

 

Used to enable the printing of Kitchen Dockets when food/drink orders are taken. When Kitchen printing is enabled, and any items sold that are assigned to the Categories selected here, will trigger a Kitchen Docket to print at the Kitchen Printer.

 

To Be Considered

 

  1. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.

 


Pre-Requisites

 

  1. Bistro Tables - As long as the Auto Close all Bistro Tables setting is not selected then a Table can be opened and the Kitchen Docket reprinted.

 


Operation

 

  1. To Reprint a Kitchen Docket associated with a Table/TAB


    1. Ensure the Function Kitchen Print POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer with the Print All Items option selected.
    2. Send a Full Update to the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
    3. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, open a Table/TAB that has either entrees/mains or desserts ordered.
    4. Select the Kitchen Print POS Key (with the Print All Items option selected).
    5. A Kitchen Docket will print at the Kitchen Printer.

 

  1. To Print only Unprinted Items
     
    1. Ensure the Function Kitchen Print POS Key is added to the appropriate Keyboard Layout using the Keyboard Designer in the SwiftPOS Back Office with the Print Only Unprinted Items option selected.
    2. Send a Full Update to the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
    3. Useful for example, for Fast Food type venues where Bae Maries are in use and where Enable Automatic Printing is NOT selected. For example, when an order is placed for an item (for example: Spring Rolls) and an insufficient quantity of the item is available in the Bae Maree to complete the order. Do as follows:
      1. An order of 10 Spring Rolls is required. Only 5 Spring Rolls are currently available in the Bae Marie.
      2. Sell 5 Spring Rolls and save the sale (using the Hold / Recall Sale POS Key). No Kitchen Docket is printed.
      3. Recall the sale (using the Hold / Recall Sale POS Key) and add another 5 Spring Rolls to the sale.
      4. Select the Kitchen Print POS Key (with the Print Only Unprinted Items option selected). A Kitchen Docket is printed for the 5 Spring Rolls to be made in the Kitchen.
      5. Finalise the sale.
         
  2. To Reprint a Kitchen Docket associated with a finalised sale


    1. Ensure the Function Kitchen Print POS Key is added to the appropriate Keyboard Layout using the Keyboard Designer in the SwiftPOS Back Office with the Print From Closed Sales option selected.
    2. Send a Full Update to the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
    3. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, select the Kitchen Print POS Key (with the Print From Closed Sales option selected).
    4. This will open the Transactions screen with the Reprint Kitchen button displayed.
       

 

    1. Select a Transaction listed in the grid and select the Reprint Kitchen button.
    2. A Kitchen Docket will print at the Kitchen Printer.

 


Kitchen Print POS Key Settings

  • Print All Items - Select to print all items.
     
  • Print Only Unprinted Items - Select to print any items currently in the sales grid that have not yet been printed.  For an example of this option in operation, see above.
     
  • Print From Closed Sales - Select to reprint a Kitchen Docket for any selected sales transaction. For information re this option in operation, see above.

Wrap Operation

 

Touch > Wrap (#350) and Clear All Wraps (#351) POS Keys

 

Description

 

Used to print an order and split it over multiple Kitchen Dockets. Mostly used when items in an order need to be served to separate seats at a table or when items need to be wrapped separately. For example, Fish and Chips.

 

To Be Considered

 

  1. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.

 


Pre-Requisites

 

  1. Ensure the Function Wrap POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
  2. Ensure the Use Wrap Feature setting is selected for the Kitchen Printer.

 


Operation

 

  1. To insert wraps into a sale

 

  1. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, sell an item.
  2. Select the Wrap POS Key.
  3. The text "-----WRAP-----" will be inserted after the item in the sales grid. All items appearing above the WRAP insert will be printed on a single Kitchen Docket.
  4. Any items sold after the WRAP insert will be printed on another Kitchen Docket.

 

In this example, two Kitchen Dockets will be generated. One for the items above the WRAP insert and on for the item after.

 

 

Example for Fish and Chip Shop

 

  1. To Clear all Wraps from a sale


    1. Select the Clear All Wraps POS Key. A confirmation prompt will be displayed.
    2. Select Yes.
    3. All WRAP inserts will be removed from the current sale.
