Touch > Linked Customer Search (#116) POS Key
Description
Used to search for a Customer via one interface and return their details from another interface.
To Be Considered
- Note : Accounts, Customers, Members and Loyalty Customers are often referred to in the documentation when discussing topics relating to Customers/Patrons of a site.
- If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.
- You can set the number of records that are returned here. Default is 50 records.
- The wildcard for searching is the "%" symbol. If you want to search for "Mc" and "Donald" anywhere in the search then you can enter "Mc%Donald" to find all the different customers with that name.
Pre-Requisites
- Ensure the Function Linked Customer Search POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
Operation
- How to search for a Customer/Member using the Linked Customer Search POS Key
- At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, enter the Customer/Member's Number.
- Select the Linked Customer Search POS Key.
- The returned Lookup Customer/Member is added to the sales grid.
Linked Customer Search Settings
This screen is accessed from here and allows for configuring of the Linked Customer Search POS Key to enable the searching of a Customer/Member via one interface and return their details from another interface.
In the screenshot example, a search will be done via the SwiftPOS Back Office interface and return the details from the Metropolis interface using Alternate ID.
- Available Interfaces - Select from the drop down list the required Interface. Note : If no interface is selected, the default used will be the interface which is set as Default in NetPOS.Net.
- Set/Change Selected Interface - Select to select the interface selected above and set the Type and Instance.
- Search Interface Type - Displays the Type selected.
- Search Interface Instance - Displays the Instance selected.
- Lookup Interface Type - Displays the Type selected.
- Lookup Interface Instance - Displays the Instance selected.
- Lookup Field - This is the field that is used from the searched data, in this example, the SwiftPOS Back Office Alternate ID
- Lookup Type - This determines whether the Lookup Field is searched on the linked interface as Standard or Alternate ID.
