Description
This menu item enables the creation of a new blank SwiftPOS Back Office Database.
the SwiftPOS Back Office Database is created in the folder specified with the Database name provided. The created Database is also attached to the SQL Server. Once that Database has been created, connect and login to the new Database here and run the Database Reset & Upgrade process to make that Database current.
You can also manage SQL Databases using SQL Server Management Studio if you prefer.

- Alternatively a new Database can also be created via the SwiftPOS Back Office Change Server/Database menu item and then via the SwiftPOS - SQL Server Connections screen.
- Note - When creating a new SwiftPOS Back Office database, you must also perform a Reset and Upgrade on this new Database.
New SwiftPOS Back Office Database / Create New Database

- Database Name - Leave the name unchanged to recreate/blank the currently connected Database. If creating a new SwiftPOS Database for the first time enter 'SWIFTPOS' as the recommended name for the Database. If creating an alternate Database then the name entered must be alphabetic characters (A-Z) only with no embedded spaces. For example 'SWIFTPOSTEST'. Note : For a first time created SwiftPOS Database or for an alternate Database, SQL Server Connections will have to be created. This can be done here.
- Destination Path - Enter 'C:\SWIFTPOS' (recommended). Select the Change button to select an alternate location.
- Create - Select to create the blank Database. The following pop up will be displayed when recreating an existing Database:

- Close - Select to exit.
Once created the Database will be automatically attached to the SQL Server. Also two files are created for every Database created:
- xxxx.MDF file - is the actual SQL Database file. Example : C:\SwiftPOS\SWIFTPOS.MDF
- xxxx.LDF - is the SQL Database log file. Example : C:\SwiftPOS\SWIFTPOS.LDF. Note : It is important to note that a SQL Database cannot be attached without it's log file. Attempting to do this with a different Log file will result in an error.
Note : If for some reason SwiftPOS utilities stopped responding during the Database upgrade you can run the Reset Database version and Upgrade option which should clear up any upgrade issues that may have occurred.
