Pager Operation

 

Touch > Pager (#70) POS Key

 

Description

 

Used to trigger a Pager to notify a Customer/Member that their order is ready. It also can be used to page a Duty Manager or request a Cash Drop.

 

To Be Considered

 

  1. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.
  2. This POS Key will not function unless a Pager System has been installed and configured.
  3. If required, preset Reasons can be used to force Clerks/Staff to select a Reason when triggering a Pager. The selected Reason will be displayed on the Pager. Reason Codes can be setup here.
  4. Multiple Pager POS Keys can be added to a keyboard and each can be preset to a specific Pager. For example, one to page the Duty Manager and send a message or request a Cash Drop.

Pre-Requisites

 

  1. Ensure the Function Pager POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.

 


Operation

 

  1. Page a Customer/Member when there order is ready


    1. Ensure a Function Pager POS Key is added to the appropriate keyboard layout, and is NOT preset to a specific Pager.
    2. When taking the Customer/Member's order at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, ensure the Booking Name POS Key is selected and enter the number of the Pager given to the Customer/Member.
    3. When the Customer/Member's order is ready, select the Pager POS Key.
    4. In the Enter Pager Number screen enter the Pager number of the Customer/Member whose order is ready.
    5. Optionally, if set, select a preset Reason or enter a text message that will appear on the Customer/Member's Pager.


  1. Page a Duty Manager to request attention


    1. Ensure a Function Pager POS Key is added to the appropriate keyboard layout, and is preset to the Duty Manager's Pager.
    2. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, when the Duty Manager is required select the preset Duty Manager Pager POS Key.
    3. In the Enter Pager Number screen enter the Pager number of the Customer/Member whose order is ready.
    4. Optionally, if set, select a preset Reason or enter a text message that will appear on the Duty Manager's Pager.

 

Pager POS Key Settings

Select from one of the following Pager types:

 

  • Tone Only Pager
  • Numeric Only Pager
  • Alphanumeric Pager

 

  • Preset No. - Displays/Enter the Pager Number to only page a specific Pager. Can be used to create a specific Pager POS Keys, so that when selected will page the Duty Manager or request a Cash Drop, for example.
  • Preset Text - Displays/Enter the text that will appear on the Pager.
  • Add Item - Select to add from the pop-up list one of the following to be inserted into the Preset Text at the position where the cursor is currently located:

 

When you add a default message to the pager button you have the ability now to add {Clerk Name} etc like we do in other places like Vouchers etc. When you send the message to the pager the {Clerk Name}  is replaced with the logged in clerks name so you should see that message on the pager. EG message = "Your meal is ready for collection from {Terminal Name}"


  • Use Preset Reasons - Select from the drop down list a Reason
