Scale Manual Tare Operation

 

Touch > Scale Manual Tare (#539) POS Key.

 

Description

 

Used to deduct the cost of the Tare weight of Customer provided containers from the sell price based on the gross weight (including the container) of the item purchased. Designed to support the use of Customer provided containers in large Bulk Food Retailers.

  1. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.

 


Pre-Requisites

 

  1. Ensure the Function Scale Manual Tare POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
  2. Items sold and potentially making use of this POS Key will need to be assigned to a Fractional type Category.

 


Operation

 

  1. The Customer presents their container to the Clerk/Staff Member.
  2. The Clerk/Staff Member weighs the container and prints a label that is adhered to the container.
  3. The Customer fills the container with a Bulk Food Item. For example, bulk nuts, bulk cereal, dried fruits, etc.
  4. The Customer presents the bulk goods to the Clerk/Staff Member for payment.
  5. The Clerk/Staff Member weighs the gross weight of the bulk goods presented and the item is added to the sale with the price calculated based on the gross weight.
  6. The Clerk/Staff Member then selects the Scale Manual Tare POS Key and enters the Tare weight as indicated on the printed label (step 2 above).
  7. A new comment line is added to include the cost of the container based on the Tare weight entered.
     

 

  1. Finalise the sale.

 

Scale Manual Tare POS Key Settings

Allows for a Scale Manual Tare POS Key to be configured to facilitate the entry of the Tare weight in either grams or kilograms. For example, if Grams (g) is selected then when the Tare weight will need to be entered in Grams.

 

  • Enter Weight In - Select either Kilograms (kg) or Grams (g) as the preferred UOM entry.
