Touch > Spoilage (#51) and Wastage (#50) POS Keys
Description
This feature is used to write off Products as a result of Spoilage/Wastage. Products written off will decrement SOH in the SwiftPOS Back Office. Spoilage is used mostly to write off Products that have expired or gone past their used by date, where as Wastage is used to write off Products that have either been broken or weren't sold due to over production and therefore have to be discarded.
To Be Considered
- If required, restricting access to these POS Keys can be managed by Clerk Security.
- If required, enforcing Clerks/Staff at the SwiftPOS Touch terminals to provide reasons for the Spoilage/Wastage of sale items can be achieved by ensuring that the Enforce Reason Code settings have been configured. These settings are accessed from here.
- Spoilage/Wastage can be recorded in Locations that are identified as Non-Stocktake. This is to facilitate the recording of Spoilage/Wastage of stock in Locations such as a Bar that draws from a cellar.
- Note : The Spoilage (#51) and Wastage (#50) POS Keys cannot be used when other Media have already been applied to the order/sale.
Pre-Requisites
- Ensure the Function Spoilage and Wastage POS Keys are added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
- Ensure a Label Printer has been configured as a Peripheral in the SwiftPOS Back Office.

- Enforce Reason Code - Select to enforce the Clerk/Staff Member to select/enter a Reason for Spoilage/Wastage of the selected items. For more information ...
- Always Print - Select to ensure a receipt is always printed regardless of whether the Receipt button is on or not.
- Don't Allow Fuel Sales - Select to ensure that the Spoilage/Wastage POS Keys cannot be used against Fuel items.
