Description

This menu item provides the ability to configure/customise Terminal settings at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.

Terminal - Main

This screen is accessed from here.

Before a SwiftPOS Touch terminal can commence operation it needs to be assigned a Terminal ID and establish the required connection to the SwiftPOS Connect Service.

  • Terminal ID - Select the keyboard icon to set the Terminal ID. This number must be assigned to a SwiftPOS Touch terminal in the SwiftPOS Back Office. If this setting is changed, the following message will be displayed:

Note : Always ensure a backup of the local settings has been made first.

TCP Settings

  • Host or IP - Displays/Enter the Host name or IP address of the server (PC) running the SwiftPOS Connect Service. If connecting to a non-local host PC then you will need to enable the SwiftPOS Connect through the firewall on the non-local host PC.
  • Tenant ID - Displays/Enter the Tenant ID. This is the Name given to the SwiftPOS Back Office database as configured in the Multi-Site Management App. Refer to Multi Site/Venue Management for more information.
  • Access Code - Default is blank. Displays/Enter the Access Code that must match the same Access Code configured in NetPOS Settings. This is not mandatory, but does provide an additional level of security. The Access Code entered here is specific to the SwiftPOS Back Office database (Database Reference ID) configured in Tenant ID above.
  • Security Policy - Refer to Security Policy Options & TCP Secure Connection Settings for more information.
  • Port - Display/Enter the Port Number that matches the Port Number set in SwiftPOS Back Office. Default is 55500. The Port Number is used to establish a connection between the SwiftPOS Touch terminal and SwiftPOS Back Office. Note : Ports Numbers can be changed to meet site specific requirements. If changed the new Port Number will need to be enables by the site's firewalls.
  • Auto Reconnect - Select the keyboard icon to set the Auto Reconnect lapse time in seconds. The default is 30 seconds. If for some reason the server becomes disconnected, a reconnect will be attempted in the time specified here.
  • Connected - Displays Green when a connection to the the SwiftPOS Connect Service is active or Red when there is no current connection.

Updates

  • Apply Updates after - Select the keyboard icon to set the time in seconds. The default is 30 seconds. If enabled then it will automatically update the SwiftPOS Touch terminal with any Keyboard and Product related updates from the SwiftPOS Back Office. To ensure this does not interrupt sales operations during busy trading periods this can be set to a longer period of time. There is still the option of updating immediately if new Products have been created in the SwiftPOS Back Office but this is just an automatic process to reduce manual operation.
  • Apply Software Updates after - Displays/Enter the time in seconds. If enabled, then it will automatically update the SwiftPOS Touch terminal with any Software updates.

Auto Number

This screen is accessed from here.

Auto-Number Printing

  • Enable Auto-Number - Select to turn on auto numbering of dockets.
  • Reset Auto-Number with Z-Read - Select to reset the numbering system whenever Z-reporting has been completed.
  • Acquire Number from Table Tracking (Location based) - Select to ensure a unique numbering system is activated across all SwiftPOS Touch terminals so that call numbers can be displayed on the Menu Boards. Note : This option is not available from a Touch Lite POS terminal.
  • Start number from - Select to enter the minimum number in the Auto-Number range that this SwiftPOS Touch terminal will start from.
  • Reset when number reaches - Select to enter the maximum number in the Auto-Number range that can be used at this SwiftPOS Touch terminal. When reached the Auto-Number will be reset to the minimum number in the Auto-Number range (as per the Start number from setting).
  • The auto number is set on each Touch Terminal ONLY.
  • Number ranges can be set and can be triggered to reset after a Z-Read.
  • The Print Field {AUTO NUMBER} will need to be added to the kitchen docket and receipt. If more than 1 SwiftPOS Touch terminal is in use, then to ensure the numbers are unique, prefix the Print Field {AUTO NUMBER} with the Print Field{TERMINAL ID}. For example:

    • {TERMINAL ID}{AUTO NUMBER} - This will result in the first order being printed from terminal 1 with the number 101, whereas from terminal 2 it will print as 201. This way duplicate numbers can never occur.

  • Booking name will override the Auto-Number showing on the KVS. Also used for Drive - Thru service. The order of printing on the KVS is as follows:

    • Table
    • Booking Name
    • Auto-Number

Miscellaneous

This screen is accessed from here.

  • Treat 28/29 Barcodes as weighted Barcodes - Select to ensure these Barcodes are used as weight embedded Barcodes (as per the requirement in some countries) as opposed to being used as price/weight embedded Barcodes (as per the international standard).
  • Calculate Qty from Dollar Value - Select to ensure a prompt is displayed to allow the entry of the value sold when a Qty based PLU Product (For example, Fuel or Deli Products) is sold. The quantity sold is then calculated at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal (rather than in the SwiftPOS Back Office when the sale is processed) and is calculated based on the value sold and the selling price of the Product as set in the SwiftPOS Back Office. This setting is most commonly used when selling Products by the litre (Fuel) or weight.

This screenshot of the SwiftPOS Touch terminal sales grid provides an example of $50 dollars worth of fuel sold. The quantity sold was calculated based on the value of $50 entered at the prompt and the $1.42 price/litre.

Note : This setting will override the Fractional setting set against the Category in the SwiftPOS Back Office.

  • Disable Log Archiving - Select this to disable the zipping of old log files. If a site has problems with the Zip feature then deselect this option.
  • Disable Price/Weight Embedded Barcodes - Select to direct SwiftPOS Touch to ignore the international standard for Barcodes and use Barcodes designed for other purposes (as per the requirement in some industries). SwiftPOS Touch will then treat all Barcodes as Product lookup. This specifically applies to Barcodes that start with "02", "20", "28", "29" etc.
  • Ignore Price/Weight Embedded Barcodes Check Digit - Select to totally ignore the check digit. Some packaged Products choose not to include the check digit at all when Barcode labels are printed.
  • Do not allow EFTPOS while updates are processing - Select to ensure that finalising a sale using EFTPOS will NOT be allowed while the SwiftPOS Touch is processing an update.
     - Removed this setting in V9+ as it is now always enabled.
  • Return Price in Product Searches (Slower) - Select to have the Product price returned and displayed beside the Products in Product searches. This can slow the time taken for results to be returned when selected on slow hardware. Note : This must be selected to allow SwiftPOS Back Office Price changes from the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
  • Enable Price before Open Price PLU (instead of QTY) - Select to ensure that when entering a number prior to selecting an Open Price PLU Product, the sale price will be set by the number entered rather than this number being used to set the sale quantity.
  • Send Heart Beat to Connect - Select to ensure a Heart Beat signal is sent to the SwiftPOS Connect at periodic intervals. This signal is sent to inform the Connect service that the Touch terminal is alive and active. Note : It is recommended that this option is always selected.
  • Always Show Keyboard when providing Reasons - Select to ensure that the Touch Keyboard is always displayed by default when the Enforced Reasons screen is displayed. This will mitigate Clerks/Staff having to select the Show/Hide Keyboard button, in order to display the Touch Keyboard.
  • Use Back Office Card Masks - Select to ensure that the Card Masking used is based on the Card Masking configured in Back Office here.
  • Include Raffles Settings when backing up to Server - Select to ensure that Raffles settings are included as part of the Terminal settings backup, so that they can be retrieved and restored to other Terminals.
  • Receipt Playback Price - Used to determine the price of the items when returned using the Receipt Playback variable on the receipt.  Options are Original Price, Current Price, or Prompt.

  • Standard Terminal - Select unless one of the following options are required.
  • NMI Compliant - Select when integrating with Scales.
  • QuickFuel - Select when integrating with Fuel where NMI Compliance is required.

Note : For NMI  or QuickFuel compliance, ensure the Receipt Printer is not set to Hospitality Mode.

  • Counter refresh rate: - Select from one of the rates in the drop down list. The default is 1 second. The rate (time in seconds) selected will determine how often the counters (appearing in the top right hand corner of the SwiftPOS Touch terminal screen) are refreshed. This can be reduced to 60 seconds if slow hardware or wireless tablets are being used. This will reduce the amount of traffic to the Table Tracking database.

  • NetPOS Test refresh rate - To be continued ...
