ePurse Operation

Touch > ePurse Charge (#48) POS Key and ePurse Top Up (#49) POS Key

Description

Used to make Payments / Top Ups into a Customer/Member's Accounts or Charge purchases to a Customer/Member's Accounts at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.

The Customer/Member ePurse feature in SwiftPOS Touch allows up to 5 ePurse Accounts for each Customer/Member. These Accounts can be used in a variety of ways. Credit can be added to any of the 5 ePurse Accounts from both the SwiftPOS Back Office and at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.

The difference between a standard Customer/Member account and ePurse Accounts is that Customer/Member accounts can have credit limits, whereas ePurse Accounts can only be charged to, while they have a positive balance. The other difference is that an active account is not required to use ePurse Accounts, enabling any Customer/Member to utilise this feature.

The ePurse Account system works in a similar manner to standard Customer/Member account Charges and Payments / Top Ups so it is important to remember that the same processing limitations apply. If an ePurse Charge or Payment / Top Up occurs at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, the Customer/Member's ePurse Account balance will not change at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal until the sale has been processed in SwiftPOS Back Office. So it is important to select a suitable sales scan interval in the SwiftPOS Back Office.

To Be Considered

  1. Note : The ePurse Account feature is only supported by SwiftPOS Back Office, not Task Manager.
  2. It is not possible to have ePurse charges and Payments / Top Ups within the same sale.
  3. Note : Accounts, Customers, Members and Loyalty Customers are often referred to in the documentation when discussing topics relating to Customers/Patrons of a site.
  4. If required, restricting access to these POS Keys can be managed by Clerk Security.
