On Screen Receipt/Kitchen Printer

Description

This document provides the instructions on how to create an on screen Receipt Printer, thus conserving paper when doing test printing. Using this feature Receipts will print to a file. These can then be viewed using the FileViewer.exe application (which is included with SwiftPOS Touch software) to view these files.

Setup

  1. Add a new Printer in Windows.

  1. Add a new port and type in the path and file where you want the text file to be placed.

  1. Choose the Generic / Text Only Driver.

  1. Give the Printer a name so that you can add it into SwiftPOS Touch.

  1. Create a desktop shortcut which starts the FileViewer.exe application: 'C:\SwiftPOSTouch\FileViewer.EXE Receipt.txt'.To make a shortcut, drag the C:\SwiftPOSTouch\FileViewer.exe file onto the desktop.
  2. In Touch > Tools > Basic Tools > Terminal Settings > Peripheral List > Receipt Printer > Edit - Make sure the Print Device selected is the set to the printer added above.

Operation

  1. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminals, make a sale and finalise it. Make sure the Receipts button is on.
  2. Do a test print to make sure it works. If it does not display the print, make sure that you have used "Receipt.txt" and not "receipt.txt" because it appears that it is case sensitive. Check that the file is being created by opening the Receipt.txt file in Notepad.
  3. A printer Icon will appear in your system tray that you can double click on to display the Receipt.

Above is a sample of Receipts being added to the print file and displayed on the screen. To use this as an activity window you could share the text printer and then all SwiftPOS Touch terminals to print to a shared Text file.
