Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Setup

Geovision is no longer supported because of changes by Microsoft to Internet Explorer

Description

The POS-Vision security system is a digital camera security system that has the ability to integrate with SwiftPOS Touch terminals and provide the ability to scan the transaction history for abnormal or suspect transactions. Rather then spend hours looking at security camera Video transactions that use Video overlay or basic text search facilities this system is unique in that it allows multiple filters to only search for sales that contain any voided items for a specific Clerk/Staff Member on a selected date range. This allows you to quickly find suspect transactions and spend far less time viewing Video that is not relevant.

The POS-Vision Video Security Application links the SwiftPOS Touch terminals to the SwiftPOS software so that transactions can be searched and then immediately view the Video camera recording that relates to the suspect transaction in question. Some of the features are as follows:

  • Integrated search capabilities to view Clerks/Staff making specific transactions between selected times. This includes "no sales", voids, cancelled sales, credit items, loyalty redemptions, wastage transactions, etc.
  • Spend minimal time reviewing security Video footage by quickly locating suspect transactions and then viewing the related Video footage.
  • Build up complex search filters in the Search Transactions menu item to find suspect transactions.
  • Improve security where it is needed most, at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.

Setup

POS Vision currently supports version 6.1.1.0, v7.xx and v8 of the GeoVision Player. Once the GeoVision server has been setup correctly to accept connections over TCP/IP, connect to it and download the Player. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your GeoVision Camera PC, a prompt will appear to download the Video Player. Upon completion of the download, it should be possible to view the camera footage recorded using the GeoVision system. Note : Make sure the Web Cam Server has been enabled on the DVR Camera PC.

the SwiftPOS Back Office application suite is compatible with the GeoVision DVR software and when correctly configured, allows the viewing of security Video footage for any transaction that has been recorded. To setup the GeoVision software to work with SwiftPOS, follow the instructions below:

  1. Local Configuration settings that may need to be configured are found here.
  2. Ensure the DVR Type setting has been set to GeoVision via the Global Preferences menu item.
  3. Open the Search Transactions menu item and select a transaction and then select the Video button to open the Video Player application.
  4. Right click on the Gold area and select Setup Login to open the GeoVision DVR Server Login screen.

  1. Enter all of the login details used to connect to the GeoVision server then select the OK button.
  2. Assign each Camera to SwiftPOS Touch terminals in the Terminal Records menu item.
  3.  Video footage should now be viewable via the Search Transactions menu item and selecting a transaction and then selecting the Video button to open the Video Player application.

The Video Player is used to view transaction Video footage. When a transaction is selected in SwiftPOS and the Video button is pressed, this Video Player will load and pressing the play button will display the footage for that transaction, provided that footage does in fact exist. The section on the right hand side of the Player displays all of the days containing Video footage as well as the time of each section of recorded footage. It is possible to select a date/time and view footage for any camera without having to go back into SwiftPOS and select another transaction. Note : This will only work if the cameras have already started monitoring, otherwise there will be no recorded Video to view.

Technical Information

SwiftPOS currently supports version 6 or higher of the GeoVision DVR software. If you have problems connecting to the GeoVision server and you are using GeoVision 7.0 or higher then you may need to change the GeoVision OCX that is currently registered on your system. To change the OCX that is used to play recorded Video from the GeoVision server, please follow these instructions:

  • Open Internet Explorer, open the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
  • Open the Programs tab and select Mange Add-ons.

Note : It is important that you sync all your computers to a world time clock. Otherwise the Video will not match the sales transactions.
