Quick Phone Orders

 

The following is an example of the alternative use of the  Hold / Recall Sale (#20) POS Key to facilitate Phone Ordering for Take Aways and other Quick Service type cafes/restaurants.

 

Description

 

This can be used as an alternative to the somewhat more robust Phone Order solution available in SwiftPOS. It makes use of the Hold/Recall POS Key to facilitate a simpler and quicker Phone Ordering solution.

 

To Be Considered

 

This solution does NOT cater for the following:

 

  1. The recording of Delivery information.
  2. Specifying a Pickup Date/Time.
  3. Recording Notes specific to an Order.
  4. Taking deposit payments for an Order.

 

The above are available when using the SwiftPOS Phone Order solution.

 


The Setup Required

 

  1. When using the Booking Name function

 

    1. Ensure the Function Multi Link (Macro) POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
       
      1. Rename caption of the Multi Link (Macro) POS Key to New Phone Order.
      2. Add a Booking Name POS Key as an event to the above POS Key.
      3. Add a Hold / Recall Sale POS Key as the 2nd event to the above POS Key.
         
        1. Ensure the following Additional Settings are set as per the screenshots below:

 

 

 

  1. When using the Customer function

 

    1. Ensure the Function Multi Link (Macro) POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
       
      1. Rename caption of the Multi Link (Macro) POS Key to New Phone Order.
      2. Add a Customer POS Key as an event to the above POS Key. Ensure the Additional Settings have been configured correctly to ensure connection to the appropriate interface (for example, NetPOS.Net). For more information ...
      3. Add a Hold / Recall Sale POS Key as the 2nd event to the above POS Key.
         
        1. Ensure the following Additional Settings are set as per the screenshots below:

 

 

 

      1. In Touch > Tools > Basic Tools > Terminal Settings > Customers, ensure the following settings are set as required.
         

 

Add/Edit Member Tab - Select the fields to be displayed when a New Customer/Member is added. The First Name is displayed be default.

 

 

Sales Grid Tab - Ensure the Set Booking Name to Customer Name on validation option is selected. This will ensure that the Customer/Member's name will be displayed in the Booking Name column in the Held Sales screen.

 

  1. Ensure the Function Hold / Recall Sale POS Key is also added to the appropriate Keyboard Layout.
    1. Rename caption of the Hold / Recall Sale POS Key to Recall Phone Order.
      1. Ensure the following Additional Settings are set as per the screenshots below:
         

 

 

  1. Ensure the Function Hold / Recall Sale POS Key is also added to the appropriate Keyboard Layout.

Operation

 

  1. When using the Booking Name function
 
    1. Take a New Phone Order

 

      1. Add the items ordered over the phone to a sale at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
      2. Select the New Phone POS Key.
      3. Enter the Booking Name. For example, Joe-0415663577 (Enter name and contact number).
      4. The sale is saved and held.

 

    1. Recall a Phone Order

 

      1. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal select the Recall Phone Order POS Key.
      2. The Held Sales screen is displayed.
         

 

      1. Toggle select column headings to sort the contents as desired.
      2. Select an entry in the grid and select the Recall button.
      3. The selected sale will be loaded into the sales grid.
      4. Either add more items and select the Save Phone Order to save the Order (a kitchen docket will only be printed for those items added to the Order), or finalise the sale.

 

    1. Save a Phone Order

 

      1. Recall an Order as per above.
      2. Add more items as required.
      3. Select the Save Phone Order POS Key to save the Order.
      4. A kitchen docket will only be printed for those items added to the Order.

 

  1. When using the Customer function
 
    1. Take a New Phone Order

 

      1. Add the items ordered over the phone to a sale at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.
      2. Select the New Phone POS Key.
      3. The Customer Search screen is displayed.
      4. Search for a Customer or select New to enter the details of the Customer for future reference.
      5. The sale is saved and held.

 

    1. Recall a Phone Order

 

      1. Same as above.

 

    1. Save a Phone Order
