Touch > Offline Account Charge (#195) POS Key
Description
Used to ensure the partial/full sale amount can be charged to an Account/Member when the NetPOS service is not running and regardless of whether there are sufficient funds available for the Account/Member being charged. That is, no validation is done prior to the charge being processed.
To Be Considered
- Note : Accounts, Customers, Members and Loyalty Customers are often referred to in the documentation when discussing topics relating to Customers/Patrons of a site.
- If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.
- The amount charged to the Customer/Member's Account will only decrease the Account balance when the sales is processed in the SwiftPOS Back Office, that is, when the connection to the SwiftPOS Back Office is re-established.
- This POS Key will not function when a Customer/Member is already in the sale. Live and offline transactions cannot be mixed.
- A fixed Account Number can be linked to the POS Key. For more information ...
Pre-Requisites
- Ensure the Function Offline Account Charge POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
Operation
To make an offline account charge at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, do as follows:
- Sell Products.
- Finalise the full sale amount using the Offline Account Charge POS Key. A prompt to enter the Customer/Member's Account Number will appear. OR finalise a portion of the sale amount by entering the amount to charge to the Account and then pressing the Offline Account Charge POS Key. Finalise the remaining balance. A prompt to enter the Customer/Member's Account Number will appear.

- Fixed Account Number - Select to enable the entry of the Account Number to which this POS Key will be linked.
- Account Number - Enter the Account Number to which this POS Key will be linked.
