Touch > Google Maps (#77) POS Key

Description

Used to launch Google Maps and show the route/directions between the Starting Address (see below) and the Customer/Member's address for a Delivery Order.

To Be Considered

  1. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.
  2. By default, the Google Maps POS Key will default to maps.google.com.

Pre-Requisites

  1. Ensure the Function Google Maps POS Key is added to the appropriate Layout using the Keyboard Designer.
  2. It is recommended to have the Print Customer Details on Orders and the Show Member Address options selected against the Order Printer at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, when making use of the Google Maps feature.
  3. The Customer/Member must have a valid address recorded against them.

Operation

  1. At the SwiftPOS Touch terminal, ensure a Phone/Web Order is either created or recalled, and is currently displayed in the sales grid.
  2. Select the Google Maps POS Key. Google Maps will be invoked and the route/directions between the Starting Address (see below) and the Customer/Member's address will be displayed.
  3. Save or Finalise the order.

Google Maps POS Key Settings

This screen is accessed from here.

  • Starting Address - Displays/Enter the address from which deliveries will commence. Enter the address as per the example in the screenshot. This is used to launch Google Maps (using the Google Maps POS Key) and display the route/directions between the Starting Address and the Customer/Member's address for a Delivery Order. Note : Leaving the Starting Address blank will just display the Customer/Member's address in Google Maps and not the directions. The recommendation is to create two Google Maps POS Keys, one with a Starting Address (with the caption Get Delivery Directions) and one without (with the caption Get Delivery Location).

  • OK - Select to save any changes and exit.
  • Cancel - Select to exit without saving.
