Guest Entry Terminal - ID Scanner

Description

This feature is designed to be flexible in that it meets a variety of requirements for different Customers. For example:

  • In Registered Clubs the requirement is that all visitors must sign in at the reception desk and show ID.
  • In Night Clubs, the issue is more about security. Retaining a retaining a copy of a patrons identity is paramount. Especially in the event of any incidents in the club. The requirement is to retain photographic images of everyone's ID cards, as well as capturing what they were wearing and what they looked like on the night. Thus providing much more information than just an optical scan of their name and address.

This feature makes use of the SwiftPOS Touch Reception application, which is by default installed to the following path : C:\SwiftPOSTouch\SwiftPOS.Reception.exe. For more information ...

To Be Considered

  2. Testing of this feature has been done using Toshiba Encore 8" Tablets and HP Omni Tablets (both low cost devices that include integrated cameras). Reseller Help - For Guest Entry information.
  3. Where required resellers are advised to create their own mounting frames.

Setup

  1. To start the software launch the Reception application. This application has multiple modes and depending on how it was last configured, will determine how it opens up. All settings and the database are stored in the C:\SwiftPOSTouch\Users folder. This may be useful when there is a need to delete the database for demonstration purposes.
  2. Once the above application has opened, the following commands are available:

    1. Select S and press Enter - This will open the settings screen which enables the configuring of the application. The default password is admin. This can be changed via the settings screen.
    2. Select X and press Enter - To exit.
    3. Select P and press Enter - To show all photos of patrons that have entered the Business/Venue.

  1. Ensure the ID Scanner option is the ONLY option selected in the Software Mode section of the Reception Terminal Screen - General Settings screen. Note : Any changes made to settings will require the SwiftPOS Touch Reception terminal software to be restarted for the changes to apply.
  2. In the Reception Terminal Screen - Connection Settings screen, configure the Table Tracking settings to ensure patron photos captured can be stored in an encrypted format in the Table Tracking database.
  3. Make sure the remaining settings are configured in the same screen.
  4. In the Reception Terminal Screen - Peripherals Settings screen, ensure an Entry Printer is added.

  1. Make sure the printer is installed with the Windows Printer Driver so that Graphical Printing capabilities are available.
  2. The Generic Printer driver will not be sufficient. We recommend an Ethernet Printer that can be shared between multiple SwiftPOS Touch terminals.

  1. The Entry Printer screen is displayed.

  1. Choose the Print Device.
  2. Select the Edit Design to open the Entry Printer Design to design/edit the Guest Entry Docket. For more information ... The following items/Print Fields are available to be included on the Docket:

  1. Start by selecting the Fill with Defaults button to use the default format. This can then be customised as required.

  1. In the Guest Entry - General screen below, select what information/options are to be displayed on the Guest Entry screen and whether a Guest docket is printed.

If the Resolution field is blank then select the Ignore Resolution option to ignore the resolution. It appears that integrated cameras in tablets do not have the capability to set the resolution but the USB Web Cameras do allow the choice of resolution.

The best results have been with the integrated cameras in laptops and Windows 8 tablets.

Note : We do not recommend HD Cameras because the resolution is too high for this solution. They make it slower to take the photos and compress them.

The printout would be black and white on a thermal printer but will also print in colour on a colour printer. Adjust the print quality of the thermal printer for best results.

The Guest would then be able to produce this at any time in a Business/Venue as proof of signing in.
