Post Links Settings

Back Office > Touch Settings > Keyboards > Product, Function or Finalise POS Keys > Post Link button OR Post Links (#129) POS key OR

Description

The Post Link settings are, for example, used to prompt for Cooking Instructions, Sauces and Side Dishes when selling main meals, as well as taking orders based on Categories and Families. These settings are used to configure a Product, Function, Finalise and the Post Links POS Keys so that after one of these are selected, either one of the following are invoked:

Layout Method - Select to link to and display a Keyboard Layout. Note : Even though this option is available, it is not recommended as it is not compatible with the Web Store feature. For more information ... This option is NOT available when using the Post Links POS key.

To Be Considered

  1. Linking with Categories in the SwiftPOS Back Office - Sometimes you may need to sell a Product that does not actually exist on the keyboard. This could be the result of a Voucher that gives you a choice of Product that has forced options. You can create the linking in the Category Menu so that the linking occurs automatically for every Product sold in that Category. If a Category is set to Min = 0, this Category can be skipped at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal by the Clerk/Staff Member. If both Min & Max are set to 0, this Category Menu will be skipped automatically at the SwiftPOS Touch terminal.

Layout Method

Note :

  1. This option is NOT available when using the Post Links POS key.
  2. The recommended option is the Category Method, when it comes to Products. The Layout Method is not compatible with the Web Store feature.
  3. It is NOT recommended that the bottom right hand button on a Keyboard Layout be allocated to a Product. This button is used by the Post Linking Layout Method to display a NEXT POS key to allow Clerks/Staff Members to proceed to the next Layout when using Layout Linking.

Example : Sell the Product Rump Steak 400g and then select Cooking Instructions, Sauces and Side Dishes. Then return to the Home Keyboard to continue selling or finalise the sale.

To Be Considered

  1. Linking via layouts for forced Cooking Instructions and sauces. Note : The recommended option is the Category Method.

    1. Only link the Parent Product (eg. Rump Steak 400g) to the Instructions. Do not link instructions to other instructions or to other pages. Also make sure that there is no other Products visible to the operator, other then the linked Products. You cannot stop someone from selling any Product as the linked item.
    2. Ensure the last link added is set to the <<Home>> layout and it has a Min/Max Counts set to zero. This will ensure SwiftPOS Touch knows the Layout steps are completed.
    3. Ensure the Home POS Key is removed from the Keyboard Layouts created. Instead, step through all layouts until the <<Home>> layout is reached.
    4. When the number of items selected on the Layout equals that of the Max Count, then the next Layout will be automatically displayed. Alternatively, use the Next key to move to the next Layout. This will only happen if the Minimum number of items has been selected. If you are using Linked Layouts, the "NEXT" button is no longer available to get to the next screen. You will need to manually create a "NEXT" button to change to the next layout. The phantom "NEXT" button was causing issues if you put a product on that button.
    5. Colour, Font & Sort settings are set at time the Keyboard Layout is created.
    6. Multiple links can be initiated from one key.

Setup

  1. Ensure Keyboard Layouts have been created.
  2. Open Keyboard Designer and select the Keyboard Layout required.
  3. Select the POS Key that you wish to enable Post Links on. You only link the parent Product to the instructions. For example Rump Steak 400g. Note : Do not link instructions to other instructions.
  4. Select Post Link from the Button Properties menu to open the Post Link Settings screen.
  5. Select the Layout Method.
  6. Select the Add Link. An entry will be added to the grid.
  7. Select from the drop down list in the Layout column, the Keyboard Layout to be linked to.
  8. Set the remaining settings as required for the Keyboard Layout added to the Layout_Grid.
  9. Select OK.
  10. Save the changes to the POS Key by selecting the Keyboard Designer Save button.
