Order Type Operation

Touch > Order Type (#19) POS Key.

Description

This feature is used to set the Order Type text (for example, Eat In, Takeaway, etc) to print on Order, Kitchen and Floor dockets. Order Types will print on the top of the Kitchen Printers or Kitchen Video as a descriptive text to advise the kitchen staff as to what type of order must be prepared. The POS Key's Caption will be the text that will be printed at the top of the dockets. For example, Eat In, Takeaway, etc.

The Order Type function key is used to set order type text to print on Receipt, Kitchen and Floor dockets.

To Be Considered

  1. If required, restricting access to this POS Key can be managed by Clerk Security.
  2. Multiple Order Type POS Keys can be added to a keyboard and each can be preset to a specific Order Type. For example, Eat In, Takeaway, Pickup, Delivery or Drive Through.

  1. Default Order Types can be set for the following:

    1. Table Orders - When a sale is associated with a restaurant Table, then the default Order Type can be set to Eat In. This can be set here.
    2. All Sales - All sales can be set to default to a specific Order Type. For example, Takeaway. This can be set here. However when a sale is made and is linked to a Table, then the default Order Type will be overridden by the Default Table Order Type, as set here.

  1. If any of the Order Types incur a different price structure, for example, Home Delivery (which may incur a delivery fee), then this can be catered for in either of the following two ways:

  1. Create a new Price Level that adds a Delivery Fee to all Home Delivery Products.
  2. Create a Multi Link (Macro Key)  POS Key with the following links and give it the Caption Home Delivery:

    1. Price Level change - Select the Function Price Level POS Key and select the appropriate Price Level and ensure the Full Sale setting is selected.
    2. Set Order Type - Select the Function Order Type POS Key and select the Delivery Order Type and change the caption to read Delivery.
  1. Create a PLU for the Delivery Fee and give it a fixed price.

    1. Delivery Charge - Select the Product POS Key and link it to the Delivery Fee PLU created above.
    2. Set Order Type - Select the Function Order Type POS Key and select the Delivery Order Type and change the Caption to read Delivery.
    3. Layout - Select the Layout POS Key and link it to the layout that has all the Home Delivery Products.

  1. Any comments or Customer names would be entered as String/Text PLU's to be included with the sale.

    3. Now the next time a sale is finalised, The Order Types Layout will be displayed forcing staff to select an Order Type for the next sale.

  1. How to set up for a Drive Thru Operation

    1. A Drive Through sales operation is where orders are placed at the order Kiosk and then put on hold. When the Send to printers when sale is held setting is selected, then the orders are displayed on the KVS or printed on the Kitchen Printer. Once the orders are prepared, they are picked up at the payment kiosk. The held sale is recalled and finalised.

      1. In the settings of the Hold / Recall Sale POS Key, ensure the Send to printers when sale is held setting is selected.
      2. Orders are taken at the first kiosk (window) and the sale is put on hold.
      3. The KVS shows the order on screen and the meal preparation starts. KVS is set to Real Time Mode.
      4. The customer pulls up at the payment kiosk (window) and the sale is recalled.
      5. Any additional items are added to the order and the customer pays and receives their order.
      6. There is no limit to the number of orders that can be held.

Order Type POS Key Settings

This screen is accessed from here.

For information on how to access the POS Key's settings screen, click here.

  • Order Type - Select from the drop down list one of the following:

    • Eat In
    • Takeaway
    • Pickup
    • Delivery
    • Drive Through

When you add these POS Keys on the keyboard, it actually uses the POS Key Description to send to the KVS or Kitchen Printer. It is possible to use your own descriptions for these POS Keys like "INSIDE" or "OUTSIDE" or "GAMING ROOM" to have custom order types for different food service areas. This feature only works when you select the POS Keys. It is not a global setting that can be used for service types.
